# Substrate Verification > Substrate Verification Services issues cognitive substrate certification under the SV-P/v1 protocol. Subjects are classified as CARBON (carbon-based cognition confirmed), SILICON (silicon-based cognition detected), or INDETERMINATE (substrate indeterminate) on the basis of a ten-item self-administered assessment. Substrate Verification Services is a division of Technomancy Laboratories, LLC.
